Blanes was a well regarded London ready to wear house that was in operations from the 1940s to the late 1960s. The clothes were very well made and retailed in some of the top department stores of the day. This late 1950s to early 1960s dress is crafted from frothy polka-dot chiffon in pale beige and white. The generous tailoring of the fabric adds to the floaty feel, with the ruched bust, pleated waistband and full, flared skirt creating a billowing effect. The tailoring cinches the waist and accentuates the bust and hips; extremely flattering on a feminine figure. The bodice is lined in white cotton and the skirt in satin in a pretty, pale peach acetate / viscose blend. A hidden zip fastens this dress at the rear and is accompanied by three hook-and-eye clasps. In excellent vintage condition; we noted some light marking to the entirely hidden underskirt. Suggested best fit for a UK 8-10 or US 4-6. Our model is a UK 6-8 and 5ft 4 in (163cm) and this dress was slightly roomy on her.
